The hit series Gilmore Girls was supposed to be a quirky but realistic look at romance, but it’s hard to suspend disbelief when caustic preppy cutie Liza Weil–as Paris Geller–can’t ever get a date. Any boy would have killed for a night in Paris, yet as the uptight college roommate of Alexis Bledel, Liza even once resorted to dating an ancient academic. We were a lot less offended when she celebrated Spring Break by giving Alexis a Gilmore Girls Gone Wild-style kiss on the dance floor, though. The show still provides an appropriately splashy showcase for Liza, who’d been toiling in minor roles in television shows like The Adventures of Pete & Pete, The West Wing and ER–despite early acclaim in NYC’s theater scene, and having starred in the heavily hyped teen indie drama Whatever (1998). That turn as a troubled young ’80s gal got Liza plenty of exposure, including how she exposed herself totally nude for a beach scene. She may have been strategically curled up, but Liza made up for that by parading around in vintage ’80s bras. When Liza’s fist go round in Stars Hollow was complete, she played a former intern accusing the president of an affair on Scandal, costume designer Milly Stone on Bunheads, and attorney Bonnie Winterbottom on How to Get Away With Murder. But the best look at the natural brunette’s bottom came on the big screen in the big screen comedy Frenemy (2009), where she got snuck up on in her underwear by a gun toting fella looking for Stephanie St. Clair. After briefly returning as Paris Geller on Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, lately she’s been playing studio bassist Carol Keen on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. We just wish Liza would do more sensual cinema. It’s been a Weil, and we don’t feel like waiting much longer.
